Propane is a three-carbon alkane gas having a molecular formula C3H8 and can be easily compressed into a liquid for easy transportation. It is a natural by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining and it a part of the LP gas group. Propane in India has several uses in several applications on a day-to-day basis.

It can be beneficial for cooking: Propane is widely used as LPG for cooking in cooktops and ovens, and the gas cookers can be very convenient for people to use propane for cooking purpose and it can be very beneficial to save a lot of electricity. Chefs are in favor of using the clean and energy efficient propane for cooking several excellent dishes quickly. It is also widely used for outdoor cooking, for providing the primary source of fuel for pizza ovens, large cooking appliances, etc.

It is a very convenient heat source: Propane can be very useful for using in the LPG heaters like the heat generator in the home. It is widely used in buses: it can also be used in the buses for powering by propane gases, and it is becoming increasingly popular. It can bring down the fuel costs drastically and can be remarkably cleaner fuel for use.  In large trucks and other engines, the gas can be combined with diesel that can save a lot of money in the long run. Propane in India can provide more than 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emission, and also decrease the emission of Carbon Monoxide when compared with conventional gasoline.

Propane has a low boiling point of -42 degree centigrade, and it has become a popular choice for many users.
